This morning I woke up a little early, and hit the local pond for an hour before getting ready for work.
Inspired by shawneramone's skills with a baitcaster and armed with some advice from him about casting them, I decided to use mine.
I tied on a weighted Texas rigged craw, and sprayed it with Crawfish Berkley Gulp! Alive! Attractant.
Stupidly, I was facing into the wind, and now had a face full of crawfish scent.
After a few casts, I hooked into a good sized largemouth. It stripped my drag a few times. When I had it almost to shore it jumped and spit the hook. In my head I could hear Muskie saying keep your rod tip up.
Oh well, there are other bass in the pond.
I hooked up with another dink largemouth, but it spit the hook pretty quickly.
All, in all it was a pleasant way to start the day.
It made me realize how fortunate I am to have this forum. Not only have I received good advice online, but I've been fortunate to fish with other members.
Aem1031 got me started throwing senkos over a year ago, and got me setup for fishing the Chu.
Muskie coached me through landing my first smallmouth.
Shawneramone inspired me to pick the baitcaster backup, and gave me some tips on making it work for me.
On top of that I've enjoyed fishing and laughing with these guys. Muskiesbrother and Shawneramone are particularly funny fellows.
Thanks everyone. Sorry if I left anyone out.
That will teach you about the WIND hahahahahaha Great group of guys we have, and we are as full of CRAP as the next guys hahahahahha Congrats!!
That's what this site is for. It's always a pleasure to share what we know and to see it be successful. It's an added bonus to hang out with a bunch of other fishing junkies too!
